Manchester United have reportedly proposed a bumper contract package to midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who is expected to leave Paris Saint-Germain on a Bosman next month.
The 24-year-old midfielder played no part for Les Parisiens during the backend of the season amid a contract dispute and he is now expected to leave on a free when his contract expires in June.
According to Mundo Deportivo, a number of clubs have approached to sign the Frenchman during the summer but United may have the edge after proposing a high offer for his services.
The publication has not mentioned the proposed wage package but multiple reports in the British media suggest that he could receive as much as £175,000-a-week at Old Trafford on top of a significant signing-on fee.
United are desperately in need of another central holding midfielder with the expected departure of Ander Herrera, and Rabiot seemingly fits the bill without a transfer fee on the table.
The Frenchman has had disciplinary problems during the backend of his Paris Saint-Germain career but a change in environment should bring about a positive reaction.
