Gianfranco Zola drops transfer update on Callum Hudson-Odoi after Chelsea’s FA Cup fourth round win

Chelsea assistant Gianfranco Zola has iterated that the club want Callum Hudson-Odoi to remain at the club despite the ongoing interest from Bayern Munich.

The 18-year-old has been the subject of multiple bids from the Bavarian giants this month but so far, the Blues have resisted the opportunity to sanction his sale.

Despite this, the speculation has only intensified with the teenager handing in a transfer request but Zola remains hopeful that Hudson-Odoi will remain at the club beyond the transfer deadline.

“We want him to stay, he has a contract and we are playing him. We believe in what he can do for the team. We think he can be an important player for us so we will see what happens,” he said.

Chelsea have already turned down three offers from Bayern for their graduate and their resolve is expected to be tested further with a fourth bid worth £40m planned.

The west London side are currently not in a desperate need for finances to push through additional winter deals but they may consider Hudson-Odoi’s sale, given they may not be able to garner a similar fee in the summer.

The youngster has just 17 months remaining on his Blues contract and he has clearly indicated the decision to move on after snubbing a renewal earlier in the month.
