German giants Bayern Munich have reportedly cleared the way for the Gunners to pursue a summer move for Bordeaux winger Malcom. The Brazilian footballer was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League during the winter transfer window, but the French outfit decided to turn down advances for his signature after recruiting a new manager at the helm.
Since then, there has been little interest in Malcom with his suitors focused on their respective league campaigns, but they appear to have now received a boost with Bayern not interested in the 21-year-old. In a report covered by The Mail, Bayern manager Jupp Heynckes distanced himself from the speculation by highlighting that the club have never watched the player in action.
The comments are likely to provide a boost to the Gunners and arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur, both of whom were said to have tentative enquiries for the highly-rated forward in January. Malcom has fared decently during the current Ligue 1 campaign, contributing eight goals and a further six assists in 26 outings.
