London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal are monitoring the proceedings of England international Luke Shaw, who has yet to sort out his long-term future with Manchester United.
The 22-year-old found himself out of contention under Jose Mourinho during the initial months of the campaign, but his work-rate in first-team training convinced the manager to offer him a regular run from December.
Shaw has since started in five of United’s eight games in the Premier League, and he was recently praised by Mourinho as one of the best full-backs in the world, while playing on full throttle.
Despite this, the left-sided defender has not been rewarded with a contract beyond the summer of 2019, and according to The Mirror, both Chelsea and Arsenal are looking to pounce on the uncertainty to land his signature.
Chelsea are comfortably placed in the left wing-back spot with Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmieri and Davide Zappacosta featuring in the position but the future of the former is in doubt amid interest from ex-club Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are looking into a long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal, who will have turned 32 before the start of the 2018/19 season. Sead Kolasinac was regarded as the potential successor to Monreal, but the Bosnian has found himself out of regular contention since December.
