Arsenal marksman Olivier Giroud is deemed to have finalised personal terms with Chelsea, though a transfer agreement has yet to materialise. The Blues had apparently set a transfer deadline which the Gunners seem to have missed, according to L’Equipe.
As per the French publication, the France international had an agreement in place to swap between the London sides but the Gunners have failed to respond to the Blues’ approach.
Antonio Conte’s side are said to have made an opening offer £20m, but this is, however, lesser than the £35m sum, the Gunners are after to end their association with Giroud.
As a result, talks seem to have reached a standstill for now, though L’Equipe suggest that the club are still in contact over a potential deal before the close of the winter transfer window.
Initially, it had been touted that the Gunners’ pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be dependent on Borussia Dortmund pursuing a new marksman, preferably on loan, but the move appears to be heading closer with the striker having boarded a flight to London.
