Chelsea make key transfer decision on Loftus-Cheek amid Palace interest

Chelsea have reportedly ruled out the exit of Ruben Loftus-Cheek amid Crystal Palace’s interest to sign him on a permanent deal. The Blues graduate joined the Eagles on a season-long loan in the summer, and he has since managed 14 starts in the Premier League.

According to Evening Standard, the Blues have dismissed the prospect of offloading Loftus-Cheek on a permanent deal despite the recent capture of Ross Barkley from Everton.

Loftus-Cheek has put in a number of top-notch performances during his short time in south London, and this has earned him a route to Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions’ squad.

The 21-year-old bagged his first two caps for England during the last set of international friendlies, and he appears to have won over Southgate ahead of the summer World Cup.

N’Golo Kante, Cesc Fabregas, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater are all currently ahead of Loftus-Cheek in the pecking order, but the Blues are seemingly prepared to wait until the summer before finding a solution.

Loftus-Cheek is likely to be in action for Crystal Palace tonight when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the third round of the FA Cup. The match will be the first instance when the VAR technology is used in English football.
