Chelsea are likely to be without the services of David Luiz during Tuesday’s Champions League clash versus Atletico Madrid. Antonio Conte is still expected to name a strong line-up as he looks to oust Diego Simeone’s side, who have reached the finals in two of the last four seasons.
Luiz had a fall-out with Antonio Conte shortly after the 3-0 defeat at Roma last month, and the Brazil international has since been ignored for the Premier League duties, although he did feature in the 4-0 thumping of Qarabag in Europe.
According to The Mail, the 30-year-old played no part in the Blues’ training on Monday, and he is still recuperating from a persistent knee problem sustained after a nasty tackle from Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero last term.
Conte has recently suggested that Luiz will have to work his way back to first-team contention, and recent reports have suggested the centre-back could make a surprise switch to La Liga with either Barcelona or Real Madrid in January.
