Premier League holders Chelsea have reportedly agreed on a £45m deal to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez. The 26-year-old was allowed to leave the Algeria Camp earlier yesterday, and according to BeiN Sport h/t The Express, the attacker has finalised his switch to the English champions.
A medical has been scheduled for the 2015/16 PFA Player of the Year, and he will therein put pen to paper on a long-term deal with Antonio Conte’s side. Mahrez had initially hoped to sign for Barcelona, but their lack of interest put Chelsea in the front seat to pursue his services.
Mahrez’s has been a regular on the right side of the Foxes’ attack, and he could potentially rival the likes of Willian and Pedro for the position, once the squad is up to full strength.
Conte lost out on the services of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fernando Llorente earlier in the day, but the club have since reacted with deals agreed for both Mahrez and Torino’s Davide Zappacosta.
