Manchester United appear increasingly unlikely to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan, as both clubs are unable to agree on a transfer fee. The Croatian winger is valued at around £45 million by the Italian club, but United are understood to be ready to pay around £40 million.
The Red Devils are keen to avoid overpaying for a 28-year-old player after having just signed Nemanja Matic from Chelsea for £40 million. The Serbian midfielder, turned 29, just as he completed the move to Old Trafford.
Perisic is keen on a move to United, and he was one of the best players in the Inter Milan team last season. He scored 11 and set up 11 in 36 league appearances last season. Manager Jose Mourinho is keen on such a player who can create and score, after having watched his United team fail to convert their superiority into goals last season.
According to Tuttosport via Teamtalk, Perisic’s agent Fali Ramadani has just landed in Milan to conduct transfer talks with the Nerazzurri. If Perisic manages to agree a new contract, it would mean an end to United’s interest in the player. The 28-year-old’s current deal runs until 2020.
Manchester United have already spent a huge sum of money in the summer with the recent signing of Matic taking the expenditure to beyond £150 million.
