As negotiations for Thomas Lemar continue to drag, Arsenal are keeping tabs on other targets who can strengthen the squad. Nice midfielder Jean Michel Seri is one of the players on Arsene Wenger’s wish-list, as he has watched the player make substantial progress in the last couple of years. The 26-year-old made 34 appearances in the league last season, and he came up with seven goals and nine assists. His performances were a key factor behind Nice finishing third in the French Ligue 1 last season.
ESPN reports that Arsenal have had a look at Seri on multiple occasions last season. Now, it appears that Wenger is mulling at the possibility of making an official offer for the central midfielder. The new season is about to start and Arsenal have only strengthened the team with the additions of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac.
Interestingly, Nice will be learning about their Champions League fate in the next few weeks with the prospect of facing the likes of Napoli and Liverpool in the playoffs. If the French outfit do manage to reach the group stages of the competition, Arsenal will have to go to some length in order to convince Seri to make the switch. The Gunners missed out on the Champions League for the first time in more than two decades.
