English champions Chelsea have surprisingly lodged an £88m bid to sign Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain. However, their attempt was rebuffed by the Old Lady, who are reluctant to place a price on their marksman.
Higuain, 29, bagged 32 goals for the Old Lady across all competitions last season after he arrived from Napoli for £71m during last summer’s transfer window.
According to Tuttosport, the Blues had lodged an attempt to sign the highly-experienced striker from Juventus after they failed to reach a transfer agreement for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.
However, the Old Lady turned down the ambitious attempt from the Blues as they have no intention to lose their main striker in the current transfer window.
Juventus surprisingly parted ways with Leonardo Bonucci earlier on Saturday following a rift between him and the manager during the backend of the previous season.
As a result, the club are already looking to add a central defender to their ranks, and a replacement for Higuain would be the last thing on their minds.
Meanwhile, reports elsewhere suggest that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be the perfect candidate to take up the centre-forward duties as he is more than willing to leave Borussia Dortmund to pursue a bigger challenge.
