Premier League holders Chelsea could reportedly land the services of Sergio Aguero during this summer’s transfer window. Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is said to have given the green light for the move to go through.
The Blues are hot on the pursuit for a new marksman this summer with Diego Costa likely to be sold between now and the end of the transfer window. Romelu Lukaku was initially identified as the prime target to fulfil the role, but the Belgian got his head turned following interest from Manchester United.
According to Spanish journalist Manu Sainz, the Citizens could sanction the sale of Aguero to their domestic rivals with Pep Guardiola open to the transfer agreement. Pep is said to be desperate for a reunion with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez this summer, and City could potentially accept a hefty sum for Aguero in order to concentrate on a deal for the Chilean.
Arsenal are adamant that they will not sell their attacker to a Premier League rival, but a fee of around £80m could test the club’s resolve with Sanchez only having a year left on his contract.
Aguero has evolved into a hero during his six-year stay at the Etihad, and his Premier League winning goal against Queens Park Rangers will forever be remembered as it helped the club gain their first English title in 44 years.
