The Manchester United-Zlatan Ibrahimovic appears to be reaching an end with the Old Trafford outfit reluctant to extend his stay beyond the end of the month.
The former Sweden international flourished after his Bosman move from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and bagged 28 goals including a man of the match against Southampton in the EFL Cup final.
He sustained a double knee ligament damage during the Europa League quarter-final against Anderlecht, and he has since undergone a surgery which has ruled him out for the best part of the year.
According to Sky Sports News, United are due to publish a list of released players on Friday which may include the name of Ibrahimovic despite his willingness to stay.
At 35, Ibrahimovic is already approaching the final years of his career, and United are seemingly not keen on paying up his wages of around £19 a year without having him on the playing field.
United are likely to use the funds recouped to make meaningful business with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane among the top names in Jose Mourinho’s wishlist.
