Deal Done: Man United agree £35m defender deal, medical scheduled

Manchester United are set to complete their first signing of the summer transfer window after they finalised a £35m fee with Benfica for the services of Victor Lindelof.

The Sweden international put pen to paper on a fresh four-and-a-half year back in March, and this did not diminish United’s pursuit of his signature.

According to Metro, via Record, the 22-year-old is on the cusp of an Old Trafford move following United’s agreement with the Primeira Liga holders.

Lindelof was due for a medical earlier this week but he has opted to slow down the progress in order to concentrate on his nation’s World Cup qualifier against France tonight.

The former Vasteras man is equally adept playing in the centre-back and right-back positions, but Mourinho is likely to draft him into the central defensive position alongside Eric Bailly.

Lindelof came off a top season with Benfica last term as he celebrated a domestic double. United fans have previously dubbed him as the ‘new Nemanja Matic’ but he will have to go some way in order to match the former United great.
