Premier League leaders Chelsea are prepared to part ways with midfielder Nemanja in a deal which could see Leonardo Bonucci join the club. Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen a reunion with Bonucci with whom he worked at Juventus and the Italian national team.
According to The Sun, the Blues will seek to offer Matic as part of a £48m deal in order to persuade the Old Lady into a potential sale.
Max Allegri’s side had lacked the presence of an additional enforcer during their Champions League final humbling at the hands of Real Madrid, and the head coach is said to favour a move for Matic for whom he failed with an approach last summer.
Conte is likely to shift his options ahead of the new season, and there is the possibility of adding a top-class centre-back to their ranks with Cesar Azpilicueta likely to be pushed into the right wing-back role.
The Champions League adds the workload on the Blues’ current squad, and Conte will be hoping to rotate his options in order to avoid a league stumble as in the 2015/16 season.
