Arsenal legend Ian Wright believes that Alexis Sanchez will swap the Gunners for a move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window. The Chile international is yet to pen a contract extension at the north London outfit despite approaching the final year of his contract.
The South American footballer recently sparked speculation over his next move after he admitted that he wants to play for a London-based club with a winning mentality.
Sanchez has provided 22 goals and 14 assists for the FA Cup finalists this campaign, but it is the lack of progress in the top flight which appears to have unsettled the Chilean.
Speaking to Sun’s weekly podcast, via Metro, Wright affirmed that it could be the right choice for the 28-year-old if he does decide to switch clubs across the Capital.
He said: “Alexis has said he wants to stay in London and win things. If he wants to do that then he goes to Chelsea.”
The Gunners great also reckons that Alexis Sanchez could be the perfect replacement for Eden Hazard with the Belgian being continuously linked with a move to Real Madrid over the past month.
He added: “Real Madrid are courting Eden Hazard. Who better to replace him than Sanchez?”
Blues boss Antonio Conte has already fired a warning at owner Roman Abramovich over the potential sale of his star players, and this could, in turn, see a potential combination of Sanchez, Hazard and Diego Costa on the attack front.
However, the prospect of such a move could be nullified with the Gunners unlikely to offload their asset to one of their main league rivals.
Sanchez will be entering the final year of his contract in the summer, and Arsenal will demand a sum of around £50m if they fail to negotiate a contract extension in time.
Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has seemingly ruled out Sanchez’s potential move to Stamford Bridge after he aimed a dig at their rivals by suggesting that there is ‘only one team in London‘.
