Premier League leaders Chelsea are reported to have reached an agreement to sign Spanish striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The former Juventus man has largely struggled for a starting role this season with Zinedine Zidane preferring to play compatriot Karim Benzema in the centre-forward position.
Morata, 24, has been on the Blues’ radar since the start of the current campaign, and their interest appears to have materialised amid the uncertainty over the future of Diego Costa.
Costa has not been in the best of form since his January row with Conte in training, and it is understood that he could eye a potential switch away from the Blues in the summer.
According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, the west London giants are in the front seat to sign Morata after having verbally settled an agreement to secure his services.
Despite his limited playing time, Morata has managed to bag 17 goals across all competitions, and this showcases his potential which remains unfulfilled with the Champions League holders.
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has also been associated with a potential move to Stamford Bridge, but the Toffees’ £100m price tag is likely to fend off any impending interest.
