France international Patrice Evra is welcome to return to Manchester United this month but only in a coaching capacity. The veteran is hoping to find a fresh challenge in January with his Juventus contract due to expire in the summer.
The 35-year-old left-back has been linked with a potential move back to the Premier League with Manchester United and West Ham United credited with interest.
According to The Sun, United boss Jose Mourinho would invite the second coming of the veteran only if he agrees to a backroom role.
The Red Devils already have the likes of Luke Shaw, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian to fill the left-back position, and Mourinho would not want to add more competition to his already settled squad.
Nevertheless, the ‘evergreen’ defender has the opportunity to revive his playing career in England with West Ham United in the transfer window.
Evra won five league titles and the prestigious Champions League during his nine-year spell at Old Trafford between 2005 and 2014.
