Arsenal trio Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin have all signed fresh contracts at the Emirates. The players have been key to the Gunners’ progress in recent seasons with Laurent Koscielny, in particular evolving into a leader in Per Mertesacker’s injury absence.
Both Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin had recently confirmed their commitment to the club and Koscielny’s contract also does not come as a surprise given how he has formed a calm influence at the back.
“We are very pleased that three important members of our team have committed to us for the long term,” Wenger told the club’s official website.
Giroud, who was the club’s highest goalscorer last season, has turned the Gunners’ fortunes over the past month whilst Coquelin and Koscielny have both been key members in the starting lineup.
Arsene Wenger’s side will now seek to resolve the future of key duo Alexis Sanchez, and Mesut Ozil, who are both reluctant to extend their contracts. The pair want assurances over Arsene Wenger’s stay next season before inking long-term contracts at the club.
