Manchester United are tracking the contract situation of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean international has just 18 months left on his existing deal.
Alexis, 27, is said to be reluctant to extend his contract at the Emirates until the club resolve the future of manager Arsene Wenger – an opinion he shares with fellow teammate Mesut Ozil.
Wenger has already received a two-year extension at the North London outfit, but he is likely to delay his decision until April with his side looking destined to miss out on the title at present.
Both Chelsea and Manchester City have been credited with interest for Alexis on different occasions this season, and according to a United insider, Jose Mourinho has set his sights on a move for the attacker next summer.
The Red Devils currently have Antoine Griezmann as their top option for the summer transfer window, but Atletico Madrid’s reluctance to accept anything below £86m (release clause) could urge them to look elsewhere.
Alexis has been a consistent performer for the Gunners in recent years, and it is said that Manchester United could jump at the chance of securing a £60m deal for his services in the summer.
The Chilean has already notched 25 goals/assists for Arsenal this term, and he will seek to show a similar commitment in the coming months despite his contract dispute.
