Liverpool dealt huge blow as rival club moves for 19 goals in 36 games striker

Premier League challengers Liverpool could miss out on the signature of Celtic’s Moussa Dembele with West Ham United interested in his services this month.

The Hammers had made an initial £20m offer for Dembele yesterday which was swiftly turned down by the Scottish champions.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is willing to keep hold of the player until the summer at the least and this would come straight into the Reds’ hands with Jurgen Klopp hoping to spend big at the end of the season.

However, according to The Star, the three-time Scottish Premiership holders are open to the prospect of offloading their star striker this month, should the Hammers up their bid to the £30m mark.

Dembele has already netted 19 goals in 36 games in what has been an impressive debut season, and it will be interesting to see whether the Hammers increase their offer for a player who has yet to test himself in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old has had a couple of highlight moments during the campaign with his best being the brace against Manchester City in the 3-3 Champions League draw in September last year.
