Everton have reportedly received an enquiry from AS Roma over the possible signing midfielder Ross Barkley this month. The England international has struggled to firm his position under Ronald Koeman this season and has been tipped to pursue his career elsewhere.
The likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been credited with interest for the 23-year-old playmaker, but according to Italian outlet La Repubblica, representatives from Roma are said to have made contact.
The Giallorossi sent their officials to England earlier last week to meet with the Toffees’ hierarchy over a potential swoop for Barkley in the winter transfer window.
The Merseyside outfit are currently holding out on a £26m sum for their graduate, and this could well put the Serie A side out of the running for his signature.
Barkley, who has been with Everton since the age of 11, has managed to amass 131 league outings since his debut in the 2011-12 season. His performances this term have also had an effect on his role with the Three Lions.
