Premier League duo Manchester United and Chelsea are reported to be trailing Everton in the race to sign Burnley defender Michael Keane. The 23-year-old has highlighted his intention to leave the Clarets at the end of the season.
Keane had been crucial to Burnley’s promotion from the Championship last term and this urged the club to turn down multiple offers from Leicester City for his services in the summer.
Since then, the centre-back has managed to step up his game in the top flight, and his showing has twice earned him a call-up to the England national side.
According to The Mail, the Toffees are in the front seat to sign Keane at the end of the season after the player signalled his agent to look for a bigger club.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United have been associated with Keane on several occasions this season, but a move to Goodison looks more fruitful, given the prospect of regular first-team football.
The former Red Devils graduate is being seen as a potential replacement for veteran Phil Jagielka, who has recently struggled to make the Everton line-up.
