Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez has reportedly turned down advances from Chelsea and Arsenal to pursue his career in the Serie A.

The Premier League giants have been keeping tabs on the Swiss for a while, but it seems they may have now faced defeat in their chase.

Italian source Tuttosport (via Metro) suggests the 23-year-old has snubbed a potential switch to the Premier League after Inter Milan came forward for his services.

The left-back seemed to want a regular place in the starting line-up, and this is something which neither Chelsea nor Arsenal could guarantee during the ongoing campaign.

Rodriguez, who has spent the past four-and-a-half seasons with Wolfsburg will now ply his trade in the Serie A where he will look to impress his new employers.

The Swiss international is expected to undergo a medical with Inter Milan in the coming days after the club agreed to trigger his £19m release clause.
