Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes it is too early to call on who are favourites to lift the Premier League title. The Reds are currently six points behind league leaders Chelsea.
The German coach suggests that his side are in the running for the English crown despite their recent setbacks against Bournemouth and West Ham United.
The Reds had made a bright start to their league campaign and were once at the top of the standings. However, following an injury to Philippe Coutinho, the Reds have seen a slump in form with a draw and defeat to West Ham United and Bournemouth respectively dropping them to third in the table.
Klopp has now insisted that his side have gone through a lean spell due to injuries, and such situation could arise to any club including Chelsea. The Blues have won nine league games on the trot whilst nearly playing the same team, and Klopp feels that the absence of one of Eden Hazard or Diego Costa through injury could affect their title challenge this term.
“The difference is, if you want, that we have had our (injury) problems already,” he was quoted as saying on Tribal Football . “Other teams will get them because no-one will go through without problems. I cannot change it, so I am not worried about it.
“None of these players – Lallana, Firmino, Mane etc – have played all the time, by the way. They have all had their breaks for different reason. Chelsea plays with the same team all the time, and you don’t ask them if they are worried. Hazard and Costa – they play 90 minutes in every game.”
Klopp’s suggestions could come to play tonight with Chelsea star Eden Hazard being ruled out for the visit of Sunderland with a minor knock.
