Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed his intention to sign Franck Kessie in the New Year after Gunners scouts were spotted watching the player in action against AC Milan over the weekend.
The 20-year-old, who is currently the subject of a £19m bid from Tottenham Hotspur, is said to have captured the attention of Wenger through his commanding performances in midfield for the Italian minnows.
Kessie’s representative had been to the English capital over the past week in order to hold negotiations with Chelsea, but according to TMW, the Gunners could well make a bid of their own for the player’s signature.
The North London giants have failed to sustain their early form this month, and defeats to Everton and Manchester City have put them nine points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, who look good value to lift the English crown.
Despite his young age, Kessie has made a name for himself in the Serie A, leading to comparisons with Ivorian teammate and Manchester City star Yaya Toure.
