Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will reportedly battle it out for the services of River Plate star Lucas Alario. The Reds were keen on the player earlier this summer, but they were reluctant to match his £8.5m valuation.
Spanish source Marca says the Reds will return for Alario in the New Year, but this time around they will face competition from Spurs, who have kept tabs on the striker in recent months.
Alario recently put pen-to-paper on a fresh contract at River Plate which includes a release clause that stands at around £15.2m. He made his international debut with Argentina earlier this month where he faced Uruguay and Venezuela in the World Cup qualifiers.
The 23-year-old has racked 17 goals in all competitions for the Capital outfit since arriving from Colon in the summer of 2015.
Liverpool are currently fifth in the league standings with seven points whilst Tottenham Hotspur are a place above them with two wins and two draws in their opening four games.
