Kenyan international Victor Wanyama has stalled on talks over a new deal at Southampton amid speculated interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The 24-year-old had been on the radar of Spurs last summer but the Saints were not keen on his sale.
Wanyama has had an average campaign in the domestic league since then with discipline being a major hurdle in his playing time with the first-team.
According to The Mirror, the midfield enforcer has rebuffed talks over a fresh contract as he seeks to pursue Champions League football next season.
The former Celtic star is hopeful that Spurs will renew their pursuit for services at the end of the campaign.
Despite his poor disciplinary record, Wanyama has racked 25 appearances in the Premier League this term.
